Doug and I took some time off to do a little bit of traveling in the region!
Well, it was also my bday gift... thanks babe :-D
We spent a week in Cambodia...
First stop - the beach town - Sihanoukville!
It's a quint little town with many European visitors...
It sits on the Gulf of Thailand... very nice :-)
We spent about 2.5 days here...
visited islands,
bummed on the beach,
went around town... pretty cozy!
First sunset in Cambodia!
On this beach is where you can get 25-cent draft!! Haha!
Things here are inexpensive!
US dollars are widely used..
When u go to ATMs, you get US dollars!
Vendors carry both US and Cambodia currency...
Cambodia currency is useful for small things like bottle of water,
sandwiches, pack of candies...etc.
Anyway, $1.00 goes a LONG way :-)
1-hour full body massage or foot massage for $7 :-)
We were in heaven!! Ahhhh!
Fresh char-grilled squid... 10 for $2 :-)
Very delicious!
Cooling off with a glass of papaya smoothie!
Grilled-salted lobster.. um um good!
Bamboo Island :-D
It took about 30-45 min boat ride to get there...
Nobody really lives there...
there are very cute cottages for backpackers though!
The water is crystal clear, felt great ^_^
We went snorkeling at two different spots at different islands...
too bad there were too many sea urchins around.. scary!
View of the beach area of Sihanoukville from Victory Hill!
Another delicious, inexpensive meal.. right on the beach :-)
Beef soup noodle (Khmer style),
char-grilled seafood, fried rice, fresh juice & beer!
